Burst water pipe repair
A burst pipe can cause serious water damage very quickly. We locate the fault, stop the leak, and repair the damaged section of the plumbing system.
A burst water pipe requires prompt intervention to limit water discharge and prevent further damage to walls, floors, furniture, and other installations.
What does burst pipe repair include?
The first step is to locate the exact point of failure and assess the surrounding section of the installation. Depending on the pipe type, accessibility, and extent of the damage, we choose the appropriate method for repairing or replacing the damaged section.
- locating the burst or leak
- controlling and shutting off the water supply
- accessing the damaged section of the installation
- repairing or replacing the damaged section
- checking joints and the system after the repair
What can you do before the plumber arrives?
If water is flowing uncontrollably from the installation, shut off the main valve if it is safe and accessible. Do not attempt temporary repairs on a pressurized installation, especially if water is near electrical installations.
When is more extensive repair required?
In older plumbing systems, a single burst pipe may indicate a broader problem. If failures keep recurring, replacing critical sections of the installation may make more sense than repeatedly carrying out isolated repairs.
